DESTINIES - THE VOICE OF SCIENCE FICTION
airs on Fridays at 11:30 PM on WUSB, 90.1 FM, the radio station of the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Hundreds of writers, artists, editors, actors, producers, directors, and musicians have appeared on the program since its debut in April, 1983. Regular features include: the Destinies Audiobook Sampler, Soundtrack Spotlight, Graphic Detail, the Destinies Radio Theater, Christopher DeFilippis' "DeFlip Side," Patrick Thomas' "Dear Cthuhlu," and convention updates and highlights, as well as host Dr. Howard Margolin's flawless interviews.

December 21, 2007 Keeping the "Chris" in Christmas, Christopher DeFilippis discusses the Three Wise Men and the Star of Bethlehem in volume 2, number 75 of "DeFlip Side." Colonel Steve Austin also learns the truth about the Star of Bethlehem when the Six Million Dollar Man travels into space in search of "Christmas Lights" on the Destinies Radio Theater. Plus, a Destinies Debut Soundtrack Spotlight on Geoff Zanelli's score for "Hitman."



December 14, 2007 Saluting the release of "I Am Legend" with part two of a reading of Richard Matheson's 1954 novel on the Destinies Audiobook Sampler. Plus, a press conference with Jamie Bamber, who plays Lee ("Apollo") Adama on the SciFi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica"
recorded at I-Con 26.



December 7, 2007 Prepare for the release of "I Am Legend" with part one of a reading from Richard Matheson's 1954 novel on the Destinies Audiobook Sampler. Then, return to the I-Con 25 Cabaret for a performance by the Celtic Folk Rock band Emerald Rose, including their hit "Freya, Shakti," "Four Jacks," and the pro-evolutionary "We Come From Monkeys." Plus, a special appearance by Voltaire.

November 30, 2007 Destinies remembers the late composer, Shirley Walker, who died on November 30, 2006 with a Soundtrack Spotlight Memorial Special featuring selections from her scores for "Memoirs of an Invisible Man," "Escape From L.A.," "Space: Above and Beyond," "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm," "Superman: The Animated Series," and "Batman Beyond." Plus, Christopher DeFilippis reviews the internet series "Star Trek: New Voyages," in volume 2, number 74 of "DeFlip Side."



November 23rd, 2007 Destinies celebrates the 44th anniversary of "Doctor Who" with an adventure of the Eighth Doctor on the Destinies Radio Theater. Paul McGann and India Fisher star in "Living Legend."



November 16th, 2007 Destinies celebrates the 30th anniversary
of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" with the Destinies Radio Theater presentation of "The Official Dramatized Recording of Close Encounters of the Third Kind."



November 9th, 2007 Soundtrack Spotlight Memorial to Basil Poledouris, who died on November 8, 2006. In a musical eulogy to the composer, death and funeral songs from his scores for "Conan The Barbarian," "Conan the Destroyer," "RoboCop," "RoboCop 3," "The Hunt for Red October," and "Starship Troopers" are featured, as well as music from "Hot Shots! Part Deux," "The Jungle Book," and "Les Miserables."

November 2nd, 2007 Destinies is live with Joel Goldsmith composer of the scores for Kull the Conqueror, Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis and Witchblade



October 26th, 2007 In a live telephone interview, author John Kenneth Muir returns for his 8th appearance on the show to discuss his book "Horror Films of the 1980s," including what went into the process of reviewing the 325 films covered in the text, the Top 15 Horror Films of the decade, and which is the single worst movie he watched. Plus, an update on the second season of John's original internet TV series, "The House Between."



October 19th, 2007 Return to the I-Con 25 Cabaret for the music of the Brobdingnagian Bards. Recorded live in Stony Brook's Student Activities Center auditorium, the Bards perform a selection of their crowd-pleasers such as "The Jedi Drinking Song," "Donald, Where's Your Trousers?", "Bog Down in the Valley," and "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." Plus, Christopher DeFilippis examines Hudson Valley Horror, including "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" as he makes his 100th Destinies appearance in volume 2, number 73 of "DeFlip Side."

October 5th, 2007 Destinies-The Voice of Science Fiction celebrates the 10th anniversary of "Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict" by presenting a full-length press conference with Anita LaSelva, the actress who played the Taelon known as Zo'or. Originally recorded at I-Con 22.

September 28th, 2007 Destinies-The Voice of Science Fiction salutes the debut of "Bionic Woman" with an adventure of the original Jamie Sommers on the Destinies Radio Theater. When Jamie is assigned to prevent an experimental jet engine disruptor from falling into enemy hands, will she be in time to stop its creator from flying on "Wings of Death?"



Also,
Christopher DeFilippis reflects on the work of the late Robert Jordan, author of the "Wheel of Time" series.

August 17th, 2007 The Destinies Soundtrack Spotlight shines on Murray Gold, composer for the current series of Doctor Who and the new Frank Oz film, Death at a Funeral which opened today.

August 10th, 2007 Destinies-The Voice of Science Fiction salutes the debut of SciFi's new Flash Gordon series with an "Official Adventure of Flash Gordon" on the Destinies Radio Theater. The original Flash Gordon, Buster Crabbe, stars with "Speed Racer's" Corrine Orr as Dale Arden in "The Decoys of Ming The Merciless." In addition, the Destinies Soundtrack Spotlight shines on Howard Blake's score for the 1980 Flash Gordon film. And, Christopher DeFilippis discusses movie sequels in volume 2, number 71 of "DeFlip Side."



August 3rd, 2007 Destinies celebrates the direct to DVD release of, "Babylon 5 The Lost Tales" with part two of a reading by Jeanne Cavalos from her Babylon 5 novel Casting Shadows The Passing of the Technomages. Also music by Kenny Young and the Eggplants from the ICON 25 cabaret
