Hundreds of writers, artists, editors, actors, producers, directors, and musicians have appeared on the program since its debut in April, 1983. January 8, 1999 The Destinies Film Review Team assembles live to discuss the best and worst science fiction, fantasy, adventure, and horror movies of 1998. Plus, "Meet Joe Evangelista," as "The Destinies-Joe Evangelista Wars" continue.

  

January 29, 1999 14th annual Space Shuttle Memorial featuring Mimi Rogers reading part 1 of Joan D. Vinge's novelization of "Lost In Space," and music by Apollo Four-Forty from the film's soundtrack. Jimmy Olsen and Clark Kent learn about "The Hidden Jade Treasure" as the Destinies Radio Theater presents episode 74 of "Superman."

February 5, 1999 The Destinies Audiobook Sampler features Part 2 of Mimi Rogers reading Joan D. Vinge's novelization of "Lost in Space." The Destinies Soundtrack Spotlight shines on Bruce Broughton's "Lost in Space" score. The Mystery of Lighthouse Point concludes in episode 75 of "Superman," on the Destinies Radio Theater.

    

February 12, 1999 The Destinies Radio Theater presents "The Shadow," starring Orson Welles. Lamont Cranston struggles to prove the innocence of a senator he believes was framed for bribery, but to do so, he must uncover the secret of "The Phantom Voice," in an episode originally aired on February 6, 1938.



February 26, 1999 Saluting Black History Month with part one of Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee's "Rama II," read by Alfre Woodard, on the Destinies Audiobook Sampler. Nichelle Nichols tells the story of TV's first interracial kiss on the album "Inside Star Trek." The Destinies Radio Theater presents part one of "Space Jam," starring Danny DeVito and narrated by James Belushi. Plus, "Inner Workings" from Jerry Goldsmith's score for "Star Trek: The Motion Picture."

March 5, 1999 Alfre Woodard reads part two of Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee's "Rama II" on the Destinies Audiobook Sampler. "Hole in One" from James Newton Howard's score for "Space Jam." Part two of "Space Jam," starring Michael Jordan and Danny DeVito, narrated by Jim Belushi, on the Destinies Radio Theater.

  



March 12, 1999 Live telephone interview with Ginjer Buchanan, who discusses and reads an excerpt from her novel "Highlander: White Silence."



March 19, 1999 A panel from the "X-Men Creators' Choice Volume 1" Video featuring Stan Lee, Bob Harras, Fabian Nicieza, and Scott Lobdell. In memory of Lee Falk, the Destinies Radio Theater presents an adventure of "Mandrake the Magician." Plus, music from the soundtrack of "The Phantom."

  

April 23, 1999 The Destinies Soundtrack Spotlight shines on Randy Newman's score for "A Bug's Life." Alfre Woodard reads part one of "The Garden of Rama," by Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee, on the Destinies Audiobook Sampler. On the Destinies Radio Theater, "The Mystery of the Pillar of Fire" begins with a "Journey to Graves End" in episode 76 of "Superman." Plus, meet the 3D computer generated DJ in "A Joe's Life" as "The Destinies-Joe Evangelista Wars" continue.

    

April 30, 1999 The Voice of Science Fiction celebrates its 16th anniversary with a one-hour special, featuring Part 2 of "The Garden of Rama," by Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee, read by Alfre Woodard, on the Destinies Audiobook Sampler. Nichelle Nichols introduces "About Science Fiction," "The Genesis II Project," and "Cyborg Tools and E.T. Lifeforms," from the album "Inside Star Trek." Neil Norman and his Cosmic Orchestra perform "Star Trek Encounters." T.A. Barron reads from "The Fires of Merlin." Harlan Ellison interviews Howard Margolin about his 15 years hosting Destinies. Synergy's version of "Classical Gas," is played without any voiceover. Clark Kent enters "The Room with No Exit" in episode 77 of "Superman." Ginjer Buchanan reads from her novel "Highlander: White Silence." Laura Creamer sings the extended version of "Bonny Portmore" from the "Highlander-The Series" finale.

    

May 7, 1999 Destinies begins its 17th year with Harlan Ellison describing his ongoing relationship with Marvel Comics in "Graphic Detail" # 123. The Destinies Soundtrack Spotlight shines on Christopher Franke's score for the "Babylon 5" episode "The Face of the Enemy," which featured Ellison in a cameo appearance. And, the Man of Steel solves the Mystery of the Pillar of Fire in episode # 78 of "Superman" on the Destinies Radio Theater.



May 21, 1999 Actor Kenny Baker performs at the I-Con 18 Cabaret, telling jokes and playing the harmonica, joined by Sylvester McCoy on the spoons. Howard Margolin interviews Kenny in the I-Con green room. John Williams' "Duel of the Fates" from the soundtrack of "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace." Plus, outtakes from Howard's interview with author Harlan Ellison.

 

May 28, 1999 The Destinies Film Review Team (Howard Margolin, Jim Rowland, Steve Lowenthal) assembles live to discuss "Star Wars Episode I: the Phantom Menace." Also includes an appearance by Joe Evangelista.



June 18, 1999 DeForest Kelley Memorial featuring "McCoy's Rx For Life" from Gene Roddenberry's "Inside Star Trek" album. "Graphic Detail" # 124: Howard Margolin interviews artist Alex Ross.



October 1, 1999 Live, in-studio interview with Dr. Mark Hertzberg: optometrist, comedian, and author of "Memories of Tomorrow: The Adventures of Comicman." ​



December 3, 1999 Live telephone interview with author T.A. Barron, who returns for his third appearance to discuss and read an excerpt from his novel "The Mirror of Merlin."



December 10, 1999 Composers Roger Bellon (making his second appearance) and Harlan Collins appear via telephone to discuss and introduce the world premiere of selections from "Highlander-A Celtic Opera."



December 17, 1999 "Graphic Detail" # 125: "Graphic Detail" # 125: Part one of an interview with DC Comics editor Kevin Dooley, recorded at I-Con 18. Plus, music from Michael Kamen's score for "The Iron Giant."



December 24, 1999 "Graphic Detail" # 126: In the last Destinies of the 1990s, the Graphic Detail (Howard Margolin, Jim Rowland, and Bob Rozakis), lists their best, worst, and most disappointing developments for the comic book industry in 1999. Plus, part two of the interview with DC Comics Editor Kevin Dooley, recorded at I-Con 18.
