January 8, 1998 The Destinies Film Review Team (Howard Margolin, Jim Rowland, Steve Lowenthal) assembles live to discuss their favorite and least favorite science fiction, fantasy, adventure, and horror movies of 1997.
January 16, 1998 "Graphic Detail" # 114: Live telephone interview with writer/artist John Byrne, who discusses his work on "Wonder Woman" and his hardcover novel "Wonder Woman: Gods and Goddesses."
January 23, 1998 Live telephone interview with Mitch Allen, executive producer of the audio dramatization of "Created, The Destroyer," the first adventure of Remo Williams.
February 6, 1998 Deborah Burros reads her original short story "Perseverance." LeVar Burton and James Doohan read part one of Michael Jan Friedman's novelization of "Relics" on the Star Trek: The Next Generation Audiobook Sampler. On the Destinies Radio Theater, Clark Kent races against time and "The Moving Mountain" in episode 56 of "Superman."
February 27, 1998 Live, in-studio interview with Christopher DeFilippis, who makes his Destinies Debut discussing and reading an excerpt from his "Quantum Leap" novel, "Foreknowledge."
March 20, 1998 Howard Margolin and I-Con's Board of Directors Secretary and Dealer's Room Coordinator Richard Hutter provide a live, hour-long preview of the guests and events scheduled for I-Con 17.
April 10, 1998 "Graphic Detail" # 116: Archie Goodwin Memorial, featuring an encore of an interview conducted with him when he was editor-in-chief of Marvel's Epic line in 1986, as well as artist Larry Stroman relating his tale of meeting Archie for the first time. Plus, music from three of the films that Archie adapted for comics: "The Empire Strikes Back," "Return of the Jedi," and "Blade Runner."
April 24, 1998 Destinies celebrates its 15th anniversary with music from "Jekyll & Hyde," Tom Smith, Claudia Christian, Mason Williams and Mannheim Steamroller, "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," and The Don't Quit Your Day Job Players. Author Deborah Burros reads her short story "Perseverance." The late Kim Yale discusses her battle with breast cancer. "Graphic Detail" # 118 features interviews with Julius Schwartz and Murphy Anderson. Clark Kent investigates a "Mystery In Melville," and finds "Lois in Peril" in episode 58 of "Superman."
May 1, 1998 The Voice of Science Fiction begins its 16th year with I-Con 17's Author Guest of Honor Norman Spinrad introducing a performance of the theme to I-Con's TV show "Infinite Possibilties," and two songs by the Stony Brook A Capella Musicians. Plus, Clark Kent continues to investigate the Mystery of the Doll Factory in episode 59 of "Superman."
May 8, 1998 Norman Spinrad introduces Filthy Pierre, Amy Shom, and Tom Smith at the I-Con XVII Cabaret. Music from the soundtrack of "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman." On the Destinies Radio Theater, Lois Lane escapes a falling brick wall, only to be kidnapped in episode 60 of "Superman."
May 15, 1998 I-Con 17's Cabaret Guest of Honor, Tom Smith, performs a full-length set of funny and occasionally crass filksongs, with topics ranging from Peter Lorre to a trip to an Australian zoo to the early days of computing to an appreciation of classic science fiction.
June 12, 1998 A Destinies Radio Theater Double Feature. "The Mystery In Melville" continues with episode 62 of "Superman." Part one of "The Story of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" featuring dialogue, music, and sound effects from the original film soundtrack.
June 19, 1998 The Destinies Radio Theater presents part 2 of "The Story of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" featuring dialogue, music, and sound effects from the original film soundtrack.
July 3, 1998 Chris Carter reveals the truth behind "The X-Files," and Nana Visitor discusses the first season episode "Roland," in an excerpt from N.E. Genge's "The Unofficial X-Files Companion."
The Dust Brothers perform "The X-Files Theme." Can the Man of Steel rescue Perry White from "The Island of Doom?" Find out as "The Mystery in Melville" concludes in episode 63 of "Superman" on the Destinies Radio Theater.
July 10, 1998 The Destinies Radio Theater presents "The Adventures of Zorro: To Trap a Fox."
August 14, 1998 Barry Corbin reads part 2 of Alan Shepard and Deke Slayton's "Moon Shot" on the Destinies Audiobook Sampler. The Little Theater Company's Cameron Douglas and Robert Smedfjeld perform Jules Feiffer's "George's Moon," recorded live at Commack High School North in August, 1981. Clark Kent attempts to go undercover as a strongman as "The Happyland Mystery" continues in episode 67 of "Superman."
September 4, 1998 Celebrating "Star Trek's" 32nd anniversary with "A Mirror For Futility," written by Alan Dean Foster, on The Destinies Radio Theater. Neil Norman and his Cosmic Orchestra perform "Star Trek: Encounters." In act two of a Destinies Radio Theater Double Feature, "The Happyland Mystery" concludes in episode 69 of "Superman." Plus, Joezilla attacks in another installment of "The Destinies-Joe Evangelista Wars."
September 25, 1998 A full-length salute to "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" featuring part two of J.M. Dillard's novelization of "Emissary," read by Nana Visitor on the Destinies Audiobook Sampler, and more music from Dennis McCarthy's score for "Emissary" on the Destinies Soundtrack Spotlight. Plus, an exclusive interview with Nana Visitor recorded at I-Con 17.
October 23, 1998 Live telephone interview with composer Roger Bellon, who discusses and introduces selections from his scores for "Highlander: The Series."
October 30, 1998 Destinies' 16th annual Halloween Special featuring the Mercury Theater on the Air's production of "Dracula," starring Orson Welles.
November 6, 1998 The Destinies Soundtrack Spotlight shines on Christopher Franke's main title themes for "Babylon 5." Howard Margolin interviews Del Rey books editor Steve Saffel at I-Con 17, and discusses their line of "Babylon 5" novels and novelizations. The Lighthouse Mystery deepens in episode 72 of "Superman."
November 13, 1998 Following the Stony Brook Science Fiction Forum's 30th anniversary party, a contingent of Forumites past and present gather in the WUSB conference room to discuss their ongoing involvement with the organization and how their lives are affected by science fiction and the Forum. Hosted by Howard Margolin, Gary Halada, and Sharan Volin, with James and Josh Frenkel, Jeff and Lisa Warner, Jennifer Adams, Guy Comstock, Jennifer Thomas, Dominick Santoriello, Fola, Eugene, Rob, and a special appearance by Joe Evangelista.
November 20, 1998 Honoring the memory of Bob Kane (10/24/15-11/3/98) with a Destinies Radio Theater presentation of "The Adventures of Batman and Rubin, Jewish Boy Wonder," starring the comedy team of Allen & Rossi.
November 27, 1998 Saluting the conclusion of "Babylon 5" by speaking with actor Bill Mumy, in an interview recorded at I-Con XV. Plus, songs from Bill's album "Dying To Be Heard." Plus, "The Adventures of Buckaroo Evangelista," as "The Destinies-Joe Evangelista Wars" continue.
December 4, 1998 Author T.A. Barron returns for his second appearance, to discuss and read a passage from his novel "The Fires of Merlin."
December 11, 1998 Live telephone interview with author Les Daniels, who makes his second Destinies appearance to discuss his book "Superman: The Complete History-The Life and Times of the Man of Steel."
December 25, 1998 "Graphic Detail" # 121: The Graphic Detail (Howard Margolin and Jim Rowland) review the best, worst, and most disappointing developments in the comic book industry for 1998. Howard Margolin interviews Gallun Award Winner Julius Schwartz at I-Con 16.
