Hundreds of writers, artists, editors, actors, producers, directors, and musicians have appeared on the program since its debut in April, 1983. January 01, 1985 The Destinies Crew (Howard Margolin, John Madonia, Ralph Schiano) travels through time and space to celebrate the New Year with parties at Xanadu, the 25th century, Outland, the Twilight Zone, Tatooine, and the Forest Moon of Endor.



January 08, 1985 John Madonia reviews Frederik Pohl's "The Merchant's War" and Richard Lupoff's "Circumpolar," then teams with Howard Margolin and Ralph Schiano to review their favorite science fiction, fantasy, adventure, and horror movies of 1984. Destinies first annual year-in-film review show.

  



January 15, 1985 Howard Margolin reviews "Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars," "Camelot 3000," and the first issue of "Crisis in Infinite Earths," then joins with John Madonia and Ralph Schiano to present selections from their favorite science fiction soundtracks, including "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century," "Brainstorm," "Things to Come," "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back," "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," and "History of the World-Part 1."



March 19, 1985 Howard Margolin interviews Mike Sargent, writer/director/co-producer/co-star of the science fiction radio serial "Mission of Gravity" about the series, his company, Suigeneris, and his other series, "James Scott." Also includes episode one of "Mission of Gravity."



March 26, 1985 Howard Margolin, Science and Technology Track leader Gary Halada, and Chairman Ralph Schiano present an up-to-the-minute preview of the guests and events scheduled for I-Con IV.



April 2, 1985 Gary Halada, Howard Margolin, Ralph Schiano, John Madonia, George Krauter, and Brian McGuinness assemble to review I-Con IV.



April 16, 1985 Historic broadcast: Gary Halada introduces the program as "Destinies-The Voice of Science Fiction" for the first time. John Madonia previews books, film, and television shows in "Things To Come." Howard Margolin speaks with author Larry Niven at I-Con IV. Ralph Schiano welcomes actor Mark Lenard to the WUSB studio during I-Con IV for part one of a two-part interview.
Plus, part three of the radio drama series "Mission of Gravity,"
produced by Mike Sargent.



April 23, 1985 Historic broadcast: Part two of Ralph Schiano's interview with Mark Lenard, recorded during I-Con IV; music from "The Terminator;" episode four of "Mission of Gravity."



April 30, 1985 Destinies celebrates its 2nd anniversary with a one-hour special, featuring Mike Botwin reading Larry Niven's "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex;" a discussion of the history of the show by Mike, Gary Halada, and Howard Margolin; Synergy's version of "Classical Gas;" Gary, Howard, and Ralph Schiano performing "Who's Cribbing" by Jack Lewis; a commercial parody by Joe Leo; Howard's interviews with author John Peel and Destinies alumnus Fred Coulter at I-Con IV; Giorgio Moroder's "The Legend of Babel" from his soundtrack to "Metropolis," Gene Roddenberry and Mark Lenard discussing "Sarek's Son, Spock" from "Inside Star Trek;" and "The Same Old Sun" from the Alan Parsons Project album "Vulture Culture."

  



May 28, 1985 Ralph Schiano and John Madonia review Frank Herbert's novel "Chapterhouse: Dune" and the James Bond film "A View To A Kill," then are joined by Howard Margolin to discuss the works of the late author Theodore Sturgeon. Plus, Howard interviews artist John Buscema at I-Con IV.

June 4, 1985 Howard Margolin interviews comic book writers Mike W. Barr, Marv Wolfman, and Denny O'Neil at I-Con IV. Gary Halada reviews the book "The Sphinx and the Rainbow" by David Loye. Ralph Schiano and George Krauter discuss the Creation Convention New York Starlog Festival.

  

June 25, 1985 The Destinies Film Review Team (Ralph Schiano, John Madonia, George Krauter, Jack Devine, and Larry Haman) discuss "Lifeforce" and "Day of the Dead." Howard Margolin reads Theodore Cogswell's "Probability Zero: The Population Implosion," reviews the film "D.A.R.Y.L.." and joins Ralph, John, George, and Larry to review "Cocoon." Plus, the Destinies Crew sings "Hello" to Joe, as "The Destinies-Joe Evangelista Wars" continue.

  

July 2, 1985 John Madonia discusses upcoming books and films in "Things To Come." Howard Margolin reads Richard Matheson's short story "The Holiday Man," utilizing the read-edit-mix technique still in use today for the first time. "Video Junkies" Ralph Schiano and John Madonia enter the TARDIS for a sampling of the history of "Doctor Who." Also hosted by Gary Halada and George Krauter.

August 6, 1985 The Intergalactic Touring Band performs "Space Commando." Howard Margolin reads Gahan Wilson's "M-1." Ralph Schiano and John Madonia review "Fright Night." Then, John provides a mini-"Things to Come" in films, television, and home video. Ralph and John discuss rumors about "Star Trek IV."



September 20, 1985 The Voice of Science Fiction moves to Friday nights as Ralph Schiano and John Madonia review "Tom O'Bedlam" by Robert Silverberg and "Creator" starring Peter O'Toole. Plus, an I-Con V update, and music from "Repo Man." Also hosted by Gary Halada and Howard Margolin.


October 4, 1985 Howard Margolin presents the first edition of "Graphic Detail." The Destinies Film Review Team (Ralph Schiano, John Madonia, Stefan Jones) discusses "The Creature" and "The Stuff." Plus, music by the Intergalactic Touring Band, Rick Springfield, and Giorgio Moroder and Philip Oakey. Also hosted by Gary Halada. And, the Destinies-Joe Evangelista Wars resume.



October 11, 1985 John Madonia and Ralph Schiano review "Robots and Empire" by Isaac Asimov. Howard Margolin celebrates his "Lastday" by reading Norman Spinrad's short story, "The Age of Invention." ELO performs "Yours Truly, 2095."

  

November 8, 1985 "Things to Come": John Madonia previews upcoming movies and books, and reviews Carl Sagan's "Contact," and "The Postman" by David Brin. "Graphic Detail" # 3: Howard Margolin and Glenn Hauman review the first issue of "X-Factor," by Bob Layton and Jackon Guice. Ralph Schiano interviews "Doctor Who" actress Nicola Bryant. Music from Jerry Goldsmith's score for "Explorers," and John Williams' "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Also hosted by Gary Halada.

  

November 15, 1985 Howard Margolin reads Robert Sheckley's short story "Starting From Scratch." Ralph Schiano presents part one of an interview with actor Anthony Ainley, recorded at Whovent '85. Historic broadcast: first Destinies episode to be encored in a different time slot. Includes encore's outro, substituted for the original during the rebroadcast.

  

November 29, 1985 John Madonia looks at recent and upcoming releases in film and literature and lists the 1985 Hugo Award winners in "Things to Come." "Graphic Detail" # 4: Howard Margolin and Glenn Hauman review "Alpha Flight" by writer Bill Mantlo and artists Mike Mignola and Gerry Talaoc. Ralph Schiano concludes his interview with actor Anthony Ainley at Whovent '85. Also hosted by Gary Halada.

  

December 6, 1985 "Graphic Detail" # 5: The Graphic Detail (Howard Margolin, Mike Botwin, Glenn Hauman, and Jim Phoel) review DC Comics' "Crisis on Infinite Earths" maxi-series. Ralph Schiano interviews actor Jon Pertwee at Whovent '85, then provides an I-Con V Update. Also hosted by Gary Halada.

  

December 27, 1985 John Madonia reviews "Neuromancer" by William Gibson and "The Secret of Life" by Rudy Rucker in "Things to Come." Joe Leo reads "The Legend of Santa Claus" by C. Bruce Hunter.
